James DeGale will be bringing in a purse of $750,000 for his fight on Saturday night against IBF super middleweight champion Badou Jack at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Jack’s purse will nearly identical with him getting $700,000. This is good money for a fight on non-pay-per-view on Showtime Boxing. DeGale’s WBC super middleweight title will be on the line for the fight.
DeGale’s paydays could go up very soon if he gets past Jack on Saturday night. The winner of the DeGale-Jack fight will be facing Callum Smith later this year, and that’ll be a likely huge fight in the UK. It might end up on Sky Box Office PPV, although it will be a headliner. It’ll still be a good payday for the winner of the DeGale-Jack fight.

DeGale (23-1, 14 KOs) has had some uneven performances in his career. His last fight against Rogelio Medina last April wasn’t one of his better ones. DeGale was hit a lot, and he didn’t take control over the fight until the last four rounds of the fight. Medina didn’t do anything special other than pressuring DeGale, and throwing a lot of punches.
DeGale will need to do a better job against Jack if he wants to be crowned the new WBC. Jack is a more capable fighter than Medina with more punching power and boxing skills. DeGale could lose the fight if he doesn’t show some more urgency in the first six rounds of the fight to keep from falling behind by a wide margin early.
IBF super featherweight champion Jose Pedraza will be getting a purse of $22,000 for his title defense against Geronta Davis. What’s interesting here is that Davis will be getting a bigger purse at $75,000 despite being only the challenger.
“Purses for #JackDegale card: DeGale $750k, Jack 700k, Pedraza 225k, Davis 75k, Serrano 17,500, Rivas, Khytrov, Aleem all $15k apiece #boxing.” said Dan Rafael.
