Amir Khan says the location for his fight against Manny Pacquiao could take place in either the UK or Dubai. They’re looking at having the fight take place in either of those two locations. If the money is there, then Pacquiao-Khan could end up in the United Arab Emirates.
That would be a great location for the two fighters to make a lot of money if the $38M offer made from people over there turns out to be legitimate. Pacquiao-Khan wouldn’t likely bring in a lot of boxing fans if the fight were to take place in the United States. Khan never fully established himself in the U.S with the casual fans despite the fact that he’s been fighting in the U.S on a fairly frequent basis since 2011.
Khan’s losses to Saul Canelo Alvarez, Danny Garcia and Lamont Peterson likely have kept him from becoming a star in the U.S Khan also struggled in his fight against Marcos Maidana years ago in a fight in the U.S.
“There’s a couple of locations we’re looking at,” said Khan said on his Snapchat channel. “One if UK, one is Dubai and one is the USA. We should find out in the next few days. The fight is going to be for the WBO title and it’s a fight I know I can win. I know a lot about Manny Pacquiao,” said Khan.
Last weekend, Khan and Pacquiao informed the boxing public that they’d reached an agreement to fight each other. Pacquiao’s promoter Bob Arum had plans recently to have fight Jeff Horn in Australia. The money for that fight wouldn’t have been a lot compared to what Pacquiao used to make in the past. Pacquiao can potentially make more money fighting Khan if the $38 million offer from the UAE turns out to be true.
The magical question is will HBO let the Pacquiao vs. Khan fight be televised on PPV in the States? If not, then Top Rank will probably need to put on their own PPV program for the Pacquiao-Khan fight.
