WBC light heavyweight champion Adonis “Superman” Stevenson’s title defense against mandatory challenger Eleider Alvarez is reportedly at serious risk of not taking place, as TVA Sports is reporting that Showtime isn’t interested in putting up the money for the fight.
Stevenson and Alvarez are supposed to be fighting on January 27th in Canada. However, there’s talk that Alvarez may move to the side so that the 40-year-old Stevenson can face former 2 division world champion Badou Jack instead. That’s a fight that Showtime might be interested in. Jack is with Floyd Mayweather Jr’s Mayweather Promotions and he’s well-known in the U.S with the hardcore boxing fans.
Eleider Alvarez has been waiting for a while for his title shot against Stevenson. It looks like he might need to wait a little while longer. Oh well.
