Anthony Joshua has been backed to overcome Deontay Wilder, with interest intensifying over a potential scrap in 2018.

Eddie Hearn has until midnight tonight to accept the gauntlet laid down by the American’s team, and with the appetite for the fight gathering pace – punters are lumping on the Brit.

In total, 68% of bets have been placed on Joshua to continue his unbeaten streak against the Bronze Bomber, and AJ’s odds have been cut according to bookies.

Wilder is a 15/8 underdog to overcome Joshua, although odds will almost certainly change should the fight be scheduled to be in America.

The Bronze Bomber has only attracted 26% of all bets for the hypothetical match up, although it does look like the fight is edging nearer to fruition. 6% of bets have been placed on the draw.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “With talk heating up over a potential scrap with two of the most exciting boxers on the planet – British punters have been quick to jump on the AJ hype train.

“Joshua is being overwhelmingly fancied, should the bout go down, and has been installed as a pretty sizable favourite over the also unbeaten Wilder.

“With the momentum currently behind AJ, Wilder reportedly coming over to fight in the UK for the first time and the aforementioned hype behind the Brit – it’s easy to see why he’s being fancied.”
