Could I see myself doing something in that realm? Yeah. Because I love it so much
WBC cruiserweight champ Tony Bellew wants to explore a career in the UFC following his crucial fight with Oleksandr Usyk this Saturday (November 10).
The 35-year-old was asked about whether he would consider stepping foot in the octagon following his retirement from boxing, and gushed over the possibility.
Bellew spoke exclusively to Oddschecker about a mixed-martial-arts career: “Could I see myself doing anything in that world, that realm? Yeah. Cause I love it so much.
“I must admit I do love MMA, I do love the UFC and the way they’ve built it – it’s a fantastic brand. Dana White has done an unbelievable job growing the UFC to what he has.
“It’s now a billion dollar organisation, it was bought for over four billion by IMG, and they’re a mega organisation.
“That’s all down to Dana White and the Fertitta brothers.”
The scouser held talks with former UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping at the start of the year, regarding a sensational switch to the octagon.
However, the man who disposed of David Haye on two occasions is focused on the task at hand this weekend before fully committing to an MMA venture.
He said: “I’ve got a task ahead of me on November 10th – that’s what I’m focused on just now.
“I’m retiring from ‘boxing’ on November 10th. What happens after that? I don’t know.”

Tony Bellew: “Anthony Fowler will be the most exciting boxer Liverpool ever produces”
Bellew tipped Fowler for greatness as he revealed the fighters that boxing fans should look out for in 2019
Liverpool’s own Tony Bellew has revealed the fighters that could reach new heights in 2019, as he spoke to Oddschecker ahead of his fight Saturday against Oleksandr Usyk.
Bellew highlighted Liverpool fighters Craig Glover and Anthony Fowler, adding that “Fowler will probably end up being the most exciting fighter my city ever produces”.
The 27-year-old Fowler has had eight professional fights so far, winning all eight with seven by way of knockout.
Glover has had nine wins from ten fights, beating Simon Vallily by TKO in Newcastle last month.
“He has everything and a bit more than I have,” Bellew said. “He’s a Cruiserweight also. He’s an exciting kid who can really fight. He’s got an old head on young shoulders.”
“Everyone knows about Callum Smith too, he’s brilliant at what he does. There’s a number of fighters in the game that excite me.”
Elsewhere, Bellew spoke about two well-known British heavyweights that he will continue to follow when he hangs up his gloves.
“I’ll always follow Anthony Joshua. He follows me and I follow him. And Del Boy [Derek Chisora] will always remain close to my heart. I just hope he continues to make the right decisions going forward.”
Tony Bellew spoke to Oddschecker and William Hill ahead of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday 10th November – he’s priced at 9/2 to win with William Hill.
